Although BA is normally my favorite airline....I can't say Heathrow
was a lot of fun. Most of the trip was just fine, but lines are long
for transferring and one quite important detail that is worth knowing
is that they are VERY strict about the size restrictions on the carry
on, but just once you are in Heathrow, not before.

But the size limitations are not the only restriction....you can find
those sizes on the web site....(in short a very modest laptop sized case.)

My daughter and I had bought a case specifically for these
restrictions. We even had a tape measure and the printed out size
restrictions to prove we were in compliance.

But what we didn't know is that there are no wheels allowed on any
carry on luggage, so even though our carry on was regulation size, it
had wheeels , so we had the choice of abandoning the bag, in the
transfer from our transAtlanatic flight to the one to Paris and
keeping as much of the contents as could be held in a plastic bag, or
completely exiting the flight and going through check-in (of the
offending carry on) again. We chose the second because we had a long
layover, but it meant LOTS more lines and no fun at all.

But mostly things were orderly, and on time. And no luggage
lost. But LONG lines for the transfer and the workers at Heathrow,
be they airport personnel or BA all look like whipped dogs. I
didn't even have the heart to complain. They all looked so worn out
coping with it.

It took two days of fabulous french bread and some wonderful berg
kase from Switzerland to make me forget all about it.

good luck!
