Thanks; glad that you enjoy the description. However,
I haven't been able to put into words the incredible feeling that we had
on Acropolis. Since the Olympics, there also seems to be a plethora
of interesting places to visit, some very old, some very new. I
should have mentioned that, for those who like stores to shop, Athens
downtown near the foot of Acropolis is a haven for shops and
shoppers..........and plenty of sidewalk cafes to nourish those souls who
need hydrating. The Greek beers are splendid, but of course they
tend to dehydrate one, therefore, one must drink more of them........even
faster. And if one needs another reason, try counting the
number of motor scooters or the ways that people can figure how to park a
vehicle on the sidewalk; you'll get a headache that only an ancient beer
can offer even a modicum of relief.

You always write things that get me dreaming -- no,
salivating --about our next Untour. Thanks for your input.
Greece sounds great to me.

We've not been on an Untours
there............yet. However, that was our first country to visit
overseas. Just taking the tour up Acropolis was worth the entire
visit. Standing amid the ruins of the Parthenon, looking down the
hillside toward Athens, we noticed a green grassy plot about the size of
a football field, and to the right of it was another grassy plot about
the size of regular home site. As we were rambling around the
ruins, I asked the tour guide what those two sites were (they were about
half-way down the hillside). She said that the larger one was where
democracy was exercised for the first time, when the Athenians actually
voted in 451BC. The smaller one was where "Paul" preached
the gospel for about thirty days; the Greeks were supposedly too logical
to accept his notions, so he knew when to leave. Those were awesome
moments for us, never to be forgotten, and it whetted our appetite for
more traveling aboard. Since, we've done a number of them, but when
we did our first Untour, it has been the way to go since. Our
list is long, but we do hope to re-visit Greece via Untours
someday. ......sonny in Virginia
