"Betruf" is "a call to prayer" in German.

In the catholic cantons of German Switzerland, this call can still be  
heard over the alps in summer. The farmers take a milk funnel of wood  
and send out a call by chanting through it. These funnels are  
frequently seen in souvenir shops.  They are always sung at dusk, and  
each locality has its own particular chant. Below is a link to a
