I'm still here also -- in mainly lurker mode these days. I did put idyllchat
on "No Mail" status before leaving on a 2-week trip, and haven't gotten
around to restoring it yet.

Re France, the week that some folks announced "Freedom Fries," Jane & I
purposely ate at two French-bistro-type restaurants and told the proprietors
(themselves both Frenchmen) that we wanted to support them.

I'm more inclined to remember that if it weren't for the French in the
American Revolution, we would be spelling honor with a "U," than I am to quote the
phrase: "If it weren't for the Americans in WW2, the national language of
France right now would be German."

Needless to say, I'm a strong Dubyaphobe and even more of a DeLayphobe. (Tom
DeLay is my very own personal congressman in our Houston suburb, and I
delight in voting for his opponent. Maybe things will change in 2006; his cohorts
in a Texas fundraising chicanery were found guilty last week.)
