As one would expect from anecdotal accounts from recent American travelers to 
Europe (in the WSJ article), some Americans felt unwelcome and some didn't.  
I personally wouldn't cancel a planned trip to Europe because of perceived 
anti-American feelings in some countries.  

However, as long as the current governments are in power in France and 
Germany, I personally won't be spending any money in those countries.  One 
point that I didn't mention about the WSJ article was pretty interesting.  A 
tour operator recently sent a brochure out to their customers regarding an 
equestrian tour in France--and they had a massive flood of complaints from 
their customers.
