A couple of chatters have mentioned the good care that foreign countries =
provide the U. S. Military Cemeteries located in their countries. I =
would like to mention that these cemeteries are cared for by The =
American Battle Monuments Commission, not by countries like France, =
Belgium, etc. The Commission is a small independent agency of the =
Executive Branch of the U.S. federal government and does a tremendous =
job in maintaining these memorial sites such as Normandy; Ardennes; =
Flanders Field; Cambridge; etc; etc.
Certainly the countries in which they are located respect the sites of =
our war dead, but they do not maintain them.
