Seven very dedicated adult educators met today at the ACE Network to begin the development process of the end of module CASTS (Contextualized Applications for Skills Transfer - for those with a short memory or those new to the field).

In preparation for the actual development process, we discussed: current research on authentic assessments; how contextualized learning and CAST assessments can be integrated into the classroom; and the benefits and challenges of using the CASTS in a Delaware Adult Education Program. During the discussion we talked about best practices for instruction as well as the assessment process.

It is our vision that the end of module CASTS will allow adult learners to demonstrate and apply the module skills that they learned in a real life situation.

The group represents family literacy, prison, ABE, GED, and Groves programs.

I am very excited to be a part of this project and we will be sharing the work that we are doing with everyone in Delaware Adult Education.

If anyone on the team would like to add their comments, please join in.
If anyone not on the team has any questions, please ask.

"Casting Away" into the evening sunset, this is Maureen.
